Open Knowledge Fellowship | Wiki Loves Museums<!– wp:paragraph –> <a href=”https://www.theheritagelab.in/wiki-loves-museums/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Wiki Loves Museums</a> is a project that aims to activate and encourage openly licensed images, articles & learning resources about India’s museum collections on the web. <!– /wp:paragraph –> <!– wp:paragraph –> For our fellowship, we are looking for those interested in the Open Knowledge movement, who are keen to expand their skills, knowledge and opportunities within the sphere of digital humanities.  <!– /wp:paragraph –> <!– wp:heading –> <h2>Here’s what the Open Knowledge Fellows will do:</h2> <!– /wp:heading –> <!– wp:paragraph –> This is a part time digital fellowship with a remuneration of 50,000 INR. <!– /wp:paragraph –> <!– wp:paragraph –> Fellows will spend time in : <!– /wp:paragraph –> <!– wp:list –> <ul><li>identifying missing topics on Wikipedia & prepare educational resources using collected photos from the campaign; fellows may need to photograph certain collections to support their resource. </li><li>conducting audio/video interviews with Museum Curators to source information about objects relevant to the research. </li><li>adding the images collected through the PhotoContest to WikiData  & creating data visualisations (training will be provided)</li><li>engaging smaller groups in at least one editathon / photo walk & present their work through a talk or at an event. </li></ul> <!– /wp:list –> <!– wp:paragraph –> Fellows commit to submitting a short report (via a blog post) on the project midway and at the end of the program.  <!– /wp:paragraph –> <!– wp:heading {“level”:3} –> <h3>A fellow will help us achieve the following objectives of the project:</h3> <!– /wp:heading –> <!– wp:list –> <ul><li>Generate knowledge about Indian art and cultural heritage, working in close collaboration with museums & aligned partners. </li><li>Create visibility for Indian cultural content on The Heritage Lab platform, Wikipedia and the wider web by expanding coverage on Wikipedia of topics relevant to collections. This means, adding sources for existing Wikipedia pages (<a href=”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tholu_bommalata”>example</a>) and create new pages “on notable topics that relate to the collection”. </li></ul> <!– /wp:list –> <!– wp:heading {“textAlign”:”left”} –> <h2 class=”has-text-align-left”>Think this is for you?
