John Krasinski Doubtful About Reed Richards Return In ‘Fantastic Four’

John Krasinski seems doubtful about a return to the role of Reed Richards for the next Fantastic Four movie.

While doing the press rounds for the third season of Amazon’s Jack Ryan series, John Krasinski told TheWrap that there haven’t been any discussion about him reprising the role of Reed Richards for Marvel’s Fantastic Four. During his interview with the trade, Krasinski revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Marvel since his initial offer to bring the character to life in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of Jack Ryan,” Krasinski told TheWrap. “Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it. I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the Doctor Strange set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.”

“It’s totally insane. To be in a room with all those people, and again to be a part of that narrative is crazy,” Krasinski continued. “But yeah, being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what, it was fun nonetheless.”

John Krasinski played the Earth-838 variant of Reed Richards in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but his future as the character is currently in doubt. During his appearance in the movie, Reed was killed by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman is set to direct the Fantastic Four movie for Marvel. The film’s screenplay is currently being written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, but the project is still a long time away as it was recently pushed back to 2025.

Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025.  Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
